What is BioIncubate?

Founded in 2023, BioIncubate is a student-led biotech incubator program helping students from the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich develop their innovative ideas in the lab. BioIncubate offers a Forge Track, where students propose inventive solutions to solve a real-life industry challenge, and a Startup Track enabling young entrepreneurs to pursue their startup ideas.

Since 2023, Promega has been supporting BioIncubate teams by providing a GloMax® Discover plate reader and scientific advice to advance their prototypes. Hear from the two teams who participated in the first Forge Track about how Promega and GloMax® accelerated their projects...

Team SensiCell

What is the project about?

SensiCell’s team of five students aimed to develop a reporter cell system to rapidly detect unwanted microbial contaminants threatening biomanufacturing safety. Using GloMax® Discover, they were able to reliably monitor biological responses to bacterial contaminants by using various reagents detectable through luminescence, fluorescence, or absorbance readings.

Who are the brilliant scientists behind this project?

Meet Ekaterina Maevskaia from the SensiCell team.

Team Parallelized Microfluidics

What is the project about?

Parallelized Microfluidic’s team created a high-throughput microfluidics system where biomanufacturing samples are incubated in thousands of nanoliter-sized droplets. This accelerates the growth of unwanted contaminants and enables faster detection. GloMax® Discover enabled them to accurately monitor fluorescent signals generated by the contaminants over time.

Who are the brilliant scientists behind this project?

Meet Kathryn Petersen and Christian Metzner from Parallelized Microfluidics.
